Junior / Intermediate Civil Engineer
Sigma Engineering Ltd. has an opening for a civil design engineer with up to 3 years experience to work on the design of a small hydroelectric project. In addition to engineering skills in hydrology, project layout, hydraulic/pipe design, tender/contract documents, project coordination, basic surveying and quantity takeoffs, candidates should demonstrate experience with environmental permitting in British Columbia and good report writing and communication skills. The position is based in Vancouver and would involve occasional travel within BC to oversee construction. Experience in construction supervision would be beneficial. Candidates should be eligible for registration with the APEGBC.

Civil Technologist - Water Resources

Sigma Engineering Ltd requires a full-time junior technologist to work on a variety of projects in the water resources field, including hydrology, river engineering, flood protection and small hydropower. Duties would include field inspection, design, analysis, computer modeling, occasional backup drafting and general office duties. Applicants must have strong interest and ability in the following areas: hydraulics, hydrology, basic surveying and quantity takeoffs, computers, good report writing and communication skills. The position is based in Vancouver and would involve occasional travel within BC to oversee construction. Experience in construction supervision would be beneficial. Biologist/Environmental Scientist
A biologist or environmental scientist (junior to intermediate level) is required to work in a multi-disciplinary office to assist in environmental assessment and the preparation of development plans and technical reports that are submitted as part of the approvals process for the development of small green hydro projects (IPPs) in BC. Experience in either engineering or biology would be an asset as well as having an understanding of some of the issues associated with the projects such as fisheries, forestry, first nations and the approval process in BC.

GIS Mapping and Draftsperson
Sigma Engineering Ltd. has an opening for a person with both GPS/GIS mapping (ArcView) and drafting (ACAD) experience. The person will have be capable of managing and ArcView databases and manipulating the database data to display on base maps. Experience with LIDAR is an asset.
In addition, the successful applicant will have experience in mechanical and structural drafting using AutoCad. The applicant must have organizational skills and be able to work with minimal supervision. Although some tasks will be repetitive , due to the variety of projects, the successful candidate will be faced with a diversity of work objectives and challenges.
